A night out for a cause

ON NOVEMBER 7, the Humber River Hospital Foundation hosted its annual Humber Heels fundraiser.

More than 500 women came out to Paramount Eventspace for the evening, donning sparkling evening wear to shop the many brands supporting the cause. Yorkdale Shopping Centre curated pop-up shops of notable brands such as Ted Baker, Mulberry and Arcteryx, as well as local artisans like Fraktals chocolates and jewellery by Beth Godfrey.

Guests were entertained by various activities throughout the evening, including “Carpool Karaoke” by R Ferri, a makeup retouch station and an in-house psychic. LUXE was the platinum sponsor of the event, creating a LUXE Lounge that featured an eight-foot flower-covered photo wall to get the perfect Instagram shot—a crowd favourite.

The Humber River Hospital Foundation raised $185,000 during the event, with 15 per cent of shopping proceeds from the evening donated towards the hospital’s programs, like the Comprehensive Obstetrical Care Clinic.

Singer and television personality Keshia Chanté hosted the evening, speaking with doctors from the hospital about the kinds of positive impacts such programs have on mothers and their newborns.

Roxy Earle, a body activist and clothing designer, presented a powerful message as the keynote speaker to empower women of all shapes and sizes, encouraging the audience to feel confident and beautiful in their skin.

The event sparked conversations about motherhood, self-love and sharing that confidence with girls from a young age. It successfully raised money and awareness for a good cause, while doing a little shopping in the process!
