SUPERNOVA BALLROOM, Toronto’s new sustainable cocktail bar, is hosting an anti-waste disco party in collaboration with Vodkow vodka this Saturday (December 7) to support the Second Harvest food rescue program. The bar is known for creating light and refreshing cocktails using seasonal produce from Ontario farms, with an ever-changing menu.

WASTE NOT WANT aims to remind us to be mindful of the waste we create, and all of the night’s cocktails will be crafted using produce rescued by Second Harvest and Vodkow’s sustainable vodka. Vodkow takes unused milk sugar from Ontario dairy farms and transforms it into a smooth vodka with a hint of vanilla flavour, in a production process that has half the carbon footprint of typical vodka distillers. Don’t worry, the spirit promises to be both lactose and sugar free.

Here’s the best part: all proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Second Harvest, a charity that “rescues” excess food from across the supply chain that is close to its best-before date, and delivers it to those in need—including homeless shelters, food banks, meal programs and women’s shelters. According to a recent report from Second Harvest, nearly 60 per cent of food produced in Canada is wasted—about a third of which is actually edible and can be rescued and redistributed.

Need another reason to put on your flashiest getup and start the soul train? Not only is the space gorgeous—featuring high ceilings and gothic arches—but the tunes will be supplied by esteemed DJs from Toronto and New York. Featuring local disco legends The Patchouli Brothers (known for their iconic weekly Beam Me Up disco parties) and Sophie Jones (music director of Pollen, a party production house focused on accessibility and inclusivity) the groove is guaranteed to be too good to miss out on.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door, and includes one sustainable Vodkow cocktail. Buy them here
